Sequential LED Turn-Signal Headlights

A sequential indicator that sweeps outward is one of the most effective visual upgrades available, and it is also the one with the most functional requirements attached. Two rules sit underneath it, and both are cheap to meet if they are considered at the design stage.

The first is colour. A front turn signal must be amber. Sequential kits that switch a white DRL segment into a white indicator are widely sold and are not compliant on a road vehicle, and we build ours to switch the segment to amber instead.

The second is electrical. Turn signals have a defined flash rate range, and a vehicle whose flasher relay expects the current draw of a filament bulb will hyperflash when it sees a low-draw LED. That is not a fault in the light, it is the vehicle reporting a bulb out. It is solved with the correct load resistor or a CAN-compatible module, and we specify that against your vehicle before shipping rather than leaving a shop to diagnose it in the bay.

Why do my LED indicators flash twice as fast?

Because the vehicle thinks a bulb has failed. Flasher circuits on many vehicles measure current draw, and an LED draws a fraction of what a filament bulb did, so the system reports a bulb out by hyperflashing. It is a compatibility issue rather than a fault in the light. The fix is a correctly sized load resistor or a CAN-compatible module, and we specify it against your exact vehicle before the assembly ships.

Can the front indicator be white?

Not on a road vehicle. Front turn signals must be amber, and sequential kits that sweep a white segment as the indicator are sold widely and are not compliant. Ours switch the segment to amber for the indicator function while the running light stays white, which gives the same visual effect and keeps the function correct. Where a build is genuinely show-only we will do it differently and label it.
